Healing With Faith

I’ve been told before that having anxiety is damnable. That then, of course didn’t help my anxiety at all. But, I’m older now and I see anxiety as a normal part of my life, especially due to my bipolar disorder. I struggle with self-esteem on a daily basis. Some days are worse than others and some days are great, but I’m on a path of being stable for myself and my family. Can I say I’m a follower of Jesus when I struggle with anxiety and depression? Yes!

Let’s talk about realness. What’s real are the hardships of anxiety and depression. What’s also real is Jesus’ love for us and the power we have in Him when we believe in Him. So, with both things being true, then how we manage our symptoms of anxiety and depression is key. Do I fall victim to it or do I fall on my knees in prayer to try to rise above? Do I use my faith to rise above or my own strength?

Let me tell you something. For those who deal with anxiety and depression, your strength alone will not be enough. It takes His supernatural strength to carry on and to have hope that endures. Don’t make the mistake of believing you can do it on your own. You were never meant to. God created us for fellowship and His design is for each of us to carry one another’s burdens, just as He carries ours. So friend, I want to tell you today, if you are stuck deep in anxiety or depression, love yourself enough to cast that burden on Him. Because He is enough, and His love for you covers everything.

Your honesty is powerful. Managing anxiety and depression with faith is admirable. His strength is our anchor. How do you find solace in challenging moments?

Honestly, it can take a bit for me to get to the solace but I really must refocus. It takes a shift of thinking which sometimes can really only be found through prayer. And then I can be honest with myself about where the moment is coming from (not of God), and that is a sobering thought, which helps bring me back to live presently. Hope this helps.
